ELECTRIC Flashcards
System description
- 3 phase 115/200v, 400hz AC and 28v DC
- 3 AC generators, 2 engine driven and 1 APU driven
- transformer rectifiers for DC
- Emergency Generator hydraulically driven by the RAT, provides 115/200v, 400hz AC power but only at 5 KVA
minimum battery voltage
- 25.6 volts
- 25.5 volts or less requires a 20 minute charge
BUS TIE in AUTO
Allows any single generator or EXT PWR to run the entire system

GALLEY pb FAULT light
at least one generator load is above 100% rated output
BAT pb FAULT light
battery charging current outside limits
BAT contactor opens
buses powered by the EMER GEN
- AC ESS and AC ESS SHED
- DC ESS and DC ESS SHED
normal power source of the DC BAT BUS
DC BUS 1 through the DC tie contactor
When are the batteries connected to the battery bus?
- APU start
- battery charging
- AC BUS 1 and 2 not powered and below 100KIAS
RAT drop
- automatically with the loss of AC BUS 1 and 2
- manually by pushing MAN ON (EMER ELEC PWR panel)
- or RAT MAN ON
(HYD panel)
GEN 1 LINE SMOKE
Smoke has been detected in the avionics ventilation ducting.
Expect ECAM warning(s) and EXTRACT and BLOWER FAULT lights
GEN 1 LINE pb OFF
- GEN 1 line contactor opens
- AC BUS 1 powered by GEN 2 via BUS TIE
- GEN 1 still powers one fuel pump directly in each wing tank
AC ESS BUSS FEED
AC ESS BUS is normally powered by AC BUS 1 and automatically switches to AC BUS 2 with
the loss of AC BUS 1
ALTN comes on when manually selected. Manual selection switches power source to
AC BUS 2.
FAULT indicates that AC ESS is not powered
