Sx of neglect
contracture, dehydration, depression, diarrhea or fecal impaction, malnutrition, failure to respond to warning of obvious disease, inapp use of meds, poor hygiene, pressure ulcers, repeated falls, repeat admission, urine burns
Bruises in various healing stages + Fractures in various healing stage
Physical abuse
Decline in self-esteem, depression, impatience/irritability/demeaning behavior towards patient by caregiver, anxiety/fearfulness/ambivalence/anger towards caregiver
Emotional abuse
T of F: you are obligated to report suspicious elderly abuse to Adult Protective Service, even if the elderly deemed competent and asked you not to
