EKG Flashcards
what does the P wave represent?
atrial depolarization (SA node firing)
what does the PR interval represent?
time from atrial depolarization to ventricular depolarization
what does the QRS complex represent?
ventricular depolarization (impulse traveling through bundle branch and purkinje fibers)
where QRS returns to isoelectric line
j point
what does the T wave represent
ventricular repolarization
what is a regular P interval?
0.12-0.20
what is a regular QRS interval?
<0.12
what is a normal QT interval?
less than half of R-R interval
what is a prolonged PR interval called?
first degree AV block
what is a prolonged QRS interval called?
bundle branch block
what is the treatment for sinus brady?
check if symptomatic (hypoTN?, AMS?, chest pain?)
if asymptomatic, no treatment
if symptomatic, atropine 1mg IV (3mg max)
what to do if atropine isnt effective for bradycardia?
transcutaneous pacing
or
dopamine/epi
how to treat sinus tacycardia
treat the casue (pain, oxygen, fluid)
or meds (beta-blockers or CC blockers)
what meds can be used for sinus tach
beta blockers or calcium channel blockers
treatment of sinus arrythmia/dysrhythmia
symptoms are uncommon and generally don’t require treatment
