The suffering of Christ leading to his crucifixion
Passion
The last Passover meal Christ celebrated with his apostles before his crucifixion.
The Last Supper
When the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other disciples, fifty days after the Passover. Considered the “birthday,” of the Church.
Descent of the Holy Spirit
Ascension
Forty days after his resurrection, the entry of Christ’s humanity into divine glory.
The physical body of Christ rising into heaven on the third day in the tomb, as he foretold.
Resurrection
Temptations in the Desert
Christ fasted and prayed for forty days in the desert to prepare for his ministry. While in the desert Satan tempted him three times at Christ’s weakest moment, but Christ still refused Satan’s temptations.
Agony in the Garden
The mental, moral, and physical agony suffered by Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane where he prayed after the last supper before his arrest. He asked his father, if possible, to remove the cup of his Passion and Death but the Father’s Will will be done.
Kenosis
Greek for “emptying,” it refers to Christ having emptied himself and becoming man and taking on human nature
Transfiguration
The divine glory of Christ manifested to Sts. Peter, James, and John on Mt. Tabor. While there, Christ spoke with Moses and Elijah and was called “son” by a voice from heaven.
Christ, suffered and died on the cross to gain the redemption of mankind
Suffering Servant
The pious practice of meditating upon Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
