Ebola facts
A
- From touching infected animals or body fluids of an infected person
- Early symptoms are fever, fatigue and headache
- Late symptoms muscle pain, memory loss, bleeding, organ failure and usually death
- People remain infectious as long as the virus is still in their blood

origins
A
- first appeared 1976 in South Sudan and DRC
- DRC occurred in a village near the Ebola River

preventions
A
- avoid contact with infected or dead bodies
- don’t eat animals in high risk areas
- quarantine sick
- wear protection eg. gloves, goggles etc
- good hygiene
- limit travel between countries

treatment
A
- survivors can have chronic complications eg. hypoxia or septic shock
- vaccines but aren’t always effective
- patients need support after eg. maintain right blood pressure
