A

Roof- Tegmen tympani (thin part of temporal bone)

Floor- Jugular vein found below

Anterior-Canal for Tensor tympani
Auditory tube

Posterior- Mastoid air cells, CN VII

Medial Wall- Oval window; Round window

A

Travels thru internal auditory meatus to provide branchiomotor to stapedius

  • Also gives off the greater petrosal nerve and chorda tympani

Chorda tympani

A

Crosses over the handle of the malleus in the tympanic cavity

  • Taste to anterior 2/3 of tongue parasympathetic to sublingual salivary and submandibular glands
  • Loss of taste if tympanic membrane pierced
