hounsefield scale low density blacker/darker highi density whiter/brighter so bone is brightest gray matter is denser so is brighter than white matter CSF is dark left and right image reversed good for bone stuff like spine non contrast for stroke

Fat bright white matter brighter gray is gray CSF is dark bone black bone marrow is bright normal anatomy (lesions with contrast)

fat bright CSF bright gray is gray white is dark bone is black bone marrow is bright for pathology
