Happiness is the main purpose of life and it depends on ourselves only, and we can only get it through virtues(moral and intellectual, which are acquired by practice). “Happiness is the activity of the soul according to the virtue”. It’s like a moral state of the end state/stage of my whole life.

He thinks that happiness to society is a big thing and he thinks that everyone’s happiness is worth the same. He said that all man seek to maximize their own happiness because they all search for pleasure over pain and happiness is considered a pleasure. He said the more you had the less happiness you would get from extra things, he too said that wealth had to do with happiness and all of this he tried to take it to a social level. Also he had a mathematical approach on happiness.

Scheler’s vision of values

A

Pragmatic values, values of life, mental values and values of the holy.
For scheler, values are qualities, stated by human, born knowledge of good and bad and the reason applied to it that can be (hierarquised) and that are totally independent from any depositary. Values are consequences of diverse historical condition and social norms .
Good and bad are individual things but come together to see pleasure, good is static.
It’s a social intellectual perception in the way we behave with things, we use standards to judge. It’s in the perception… About how you feel.

A

Some sort of stairs to get to happiness, find success and you can’t skip them.
Bottom to top
1. Physiological: things you need in order to survive to be alive(homeostasis) more about biological.
2. Safety: For living but from other people, material things to be alive, knowing you have a job, resources, family, health , property etc.
3. Love belonging: “cheesy” social (family to take care of the baby) , love sexual intimacy.
4. Esteem: evaluation, final judgement that you say about you, overall how I feel good or bad, respect of others and respected by others ( confidence,
achievement)
5. Self actualization: (autonomy) able to create your morality, improvise life, can solve problems, acceptance of facts… Creativity.

Emotions come from feelings. Society can tell is when to get angry, scared, but not how. We control reactions but not processes, society teaches us to overreact or suppress or feeling but no to control them(Aristotle)

A
