granting employees more authority in the workplace. it involves making better use if the knowledge, expertise and creative skills of the employees. it can be a way of creating a positive working environment where employees are happy, motivated and productive

this empowerment strategy links to 2 theorists: MAZLOW with the hierarchy if needs and HERZBURG, with the 2 factor theory, hygiene and motivators.
MAZLOW: believes that humans have 5 sets of needs, arranged into a hierarchy, basic needs at the bottom (physiological needs), higher level of needs at the top (self-actualization)
HERZBURG: employees would feel more motivated doing something because they want to rather than to get a reward or avoid a punishment. he believes that motivated workers perform at their best
