Dyslipidemia Flashcards
Target levels of LDL, non-HDL, Apo-B?
LDL < 1.8 mmol/L
ApoB < 0.70 g/L
Non-HDL < 2.4 mmol/L
When should fenofibrate be initiated for elevated triglycerides?
Not all patients with elevated triglycerides require fenofibrate initially. Patients with a triglyceride level greater than 10 mmol/L may be started on fenofibrate to avoid the risk of complications secondary to hypertriglyceridemia.
Target levels of:
-waist circumference
-Triglyceride
-Systolic blood pressure
-Diastolic blood pressure
-Fasting glucose
a.Waist circumference: >102 cm in men and >88 cm in women
b.Triglycerides: ≥1.7 mmol/L
HDL cholesterol (HDL-c) <1.0 mmol/L in men an <1.3 mmol/L in women
c.Systolic blood pressure ≥130 mmHg
d. diastolic blood pressure ≥85
e.Fasting glucose ≥5.6
progression of myopathy?
-Myopathy
-Myalgia
-Myositis
-Rhabdomyolysis
when is the framingham risk score doubled? (multiplied by 2)
30-59 yrs without diabetes who have a positive family history.
who should be screened for dyslipidemia?
men and women greater than or equal to 40.
- screen earlier if they are south asian or First Nation
LDL levels where therapy is indicated:
high-risk: immediately
intermediate: greater than or equal to 3.5mmol/L
low-risk: greater than or equal to 5.0 mmol/L
statin-indicated case?
- clinical atherosclerosis
- abdominal aortic aneurysm
-Diabetes Mellitus
-Chronic kidney disease
-Familial hypercholesteremia
-LDL-C ≥5 mmoL/L or ApoB ≥1.45 g/L or non-HDL-C ≥5.8 mmol/L
-patients that have a triglyceride level greater than ____ should be started on fenofibrate.
> 10mmol/L
In diabetes, at what LDL level should an add-on therapy be considered?
greater than or equal to 2 mmol/L
In CVD, at what LDL level should an add-on therapy be considered?
greater than or equal to 1.8 mmol/L
In hypercholestermia, at what LDL level should an add-on therapy be considered?
greater than or equal to 2.5mmol/L
In hypercholestermia, at what LDL level should intermediate risk patients start therapy?
greater than or equal to 3.5mmol/L
In hypercholestermia, at what LDL level should low risk patients start therapy?
greater than or equal to 5.00 mmol/L
At what BMI should patients be screened for dyslipidemia?
greater than or equal to 30.
