What is the Criteria for Intellectual Disability?
onset during developmental period that includes both intellectual and adaptive functioning deficits in conceptual, social and practical domains.
A. Deficits in intellect (reasoning, problem solving, planning) confirmed by clinical assessment and testing
B. Deficits in adaptive functioning- failure to meet expectations for communication, social participation, independent living… across multiple environments.
C. Onset of the above occur during developmental period.
Specified with Mild/Moderate/Severe/Profound
What is the criteria for a language disorder
A.Persistent difficulties in the acquisition and use of language across modalities.(reduced vocabulary, sentence structure, discourse)
B. Language abilities are substantially below that expected of age resulting in functional limitation.
C. Onset during developmental period.
D. Not attributable to sensory/motor condition or ID
What is the Criteria for Speech Sound Disorder
A. Persistent difficulty with speech sound production that interferes with intelligibility or prevents communication.
B. Causes limitations in success in individual, social, academic or occupational performance
C.Onset during developmental period
D. Not attributable to congenital or acquired conditions such as cerebral palsy, cleft palate, deafness or hearing loss, TBI or other medical/neurological conditions
What is the Criteria for Childhood Fluency Disorder (Stuttering)
A. Disturbances in the normal fluency and patterns of speech, marked by.
- sound and syllable repetitions
- Sound prolongations of consonants as well as vowels
- Broken words
- Audible or silent blocking

4. Difficulties understanding what is not explicitly stated (humor, idioms, metaphors)
B. result in functional limitiations
C. Onset is in early developmental period

What are the criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder
A. Persistent deficits in social communication and interaction.
B. Restricted repetitive patterns of behavior, interests or activities.
C. Symptoms present in early developmental period.
D. Symptoms cause clinical impairment in functioning.
E. Not due to ID, global delay
What are the Criteria for ADHD
A.Persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity that interferes with functionality. (6 or more in 2 categories)
B. Must start before age 12
C. Present in multiple environments
D. Evidence that these interfere with functioning
What are the criteria for a specific learning disorder
A. Difficulties learning and using academic skills, for at least 6 months despite interventions.

Criteria for a developmental coordination disorder
A. Coordinated motor skills are substantially below the expected given for the patient’s age. Manifested as clumisness, slowness, inaccuracy.
B. These significantly interfere with activites of daily living as appropriate for age.
C. Onset in early developmental period
D. Not due to ID, Visual impairment, or movement disorder such as (cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, degenerative disorder.
Criteria for Stereotypic Movement Disorder
A.Repetitive, seemingly driven and apparently purposeless motor behavior (body rocking, hand shaking).
B. The behavior interferes with activities and may result in injury
C. Onset in early development
D. not due to physiological effect of substance or neurological condition or mental disorder (trichotillomania, ocd)
Can be associated/specified with a known medical condition (lesch-Nyhan snydrome, ID)
