Describe Reactive Attachment Disorder
child has a consistent pattern of inhibited, emotionally withdrawn behavior toward adult caregivers, manifested by both of the following: a child rarely seeks comfort when distressed and a child rarely responds to comfort when distressed. In addition, the child exhibits a persistent social and emotional disturbance characterized by at least 2 of the following: minimal social and emotional responsiveness to others; limited positive affect; and episodes of unexplained irritability, sadness, or fearfulness that are evident even during nonthreatening interactions with adult caregivers. Finally, children with reactive attachment disorder have experienced a pattern of extreme or insufficient care.
