-pathologic (born w/) = problem
-Physiologic (develops) = fine

- level in blood is over 20
-causes aseptic (sterile) meningitis or encephalopathy
-DEADLY
-can lead to Opisthotonos
position newborn assumes; hyperextended posture, MEDICAL EMERGENCY
