Drug Interactions with Receptors and Ion Channels (Drugs) Flashcards

1
Q

What are the molecules that disrupt G-protein cycle?

A
  1. Cholera toxin (CTX): Inhibits GTPase activity of αs, causing chronic activation of pathway.
  2. Pertussis toxin (PTX): ADP-ribosylates αi and inhibits stimulation, causing ‘whooping cough’.
  3. AlF4-: Mimics γ-phosphate and causes chronic activation of G-proteins. It is used as an insecticide.
