Drug and NPS Flashcards
what are the 3 ways in which drugs can affect neurotransmission?
1) Drug molecule mimicking neurotransmitter
2) Drug molecule blocking neurotransmitter
3) Drug molecule blocking reuptake of neurotransmitter
What are the different effect that NPS has on the body?
Stimulant-this drug excits your nervous system
Halluciogen-to alter how yor nervous system is meant to react
Anti-psychotic
Depressant-They will reduce your nervous system.
What are the facial effects of stimulant drugs?
Dialted pupils of eyes
Wide open eyelids
Flushed /hot-looking skin
Clenched Jaw,teeth grinding
What are facial effects of depressants?
Constricted pupils Sagging/droppy eyelids Paler complexion Relaxed facial muscles Nodding head
What is the overall opioid effect?
Reduction of cell membrane excitablity ,slowing of cell firing, inhibition of neurotransmitter release.
Give some example of the side effects caused by opiods
Analgesia Miosis Sedation Hypothermia Changes in mood Bradycardia Constipation
what do cathiones(stimulant) do?
can cause tachycarida,vasoconstriction,hypertension
,myocardial infarction
