Will the APU automatically shut down for fire? If so, when?

A

Yes. On the ground 10 seconds after fire detection.
APU FADEC will shut down if: UFO/SHELF on ground or UFO in flight.
Anytime 1 minute has gone by since detection and the APU Emer Stop button hasn’t been pressed the APU extinguish light will come on.
Underspeed, FADEC Fault, Overspeed, Sensor Fail, High Oil Temp, EGT High Temp, Low Oil Temp, Fire

How do I discharge the low-rate bottle for a non-enunciated forward cargo fire on the ground?

A

Press twice for H rate, and press again for L rate. 3 times (If there is no message, you have to arm the system; press twice for H)

What closes if there is a cargo fire?

A

After smoke is detected in the FWD bin, the air circulation fan and FWD bin ventilation outflow valve is closed and the hi rate bottle is armed in flight.

How is a lavatory fire detected?

A

One Smoke detector in each Lav, 2 Total

What happens when a LAV SMOKE EICAS message appears?

A

Master warning light comes on, smoke alarm sounds and smoke detector light comes on in the lavatory, and a flashing amber light on the FA panel illuminates

Does LAV SMOKE mean the halon bottle has discharged?

A

Only when the temperature of the waste container exceeds a certain limit, the system automatically discharges the halon extinguisher. FA can also use hand held halon to fight fire.
