Describe the process of DNA replication
A
Helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the two bases and creates to separate bases. Free bases then attach to the strands and DNA polymerase joins the nucleotides to the other chain.

Describe the experiment used to prove
A
The experiment was developed by Meselson and Stahl. It involved growing bacteria in a medium containing amino acids made with N-15. The bacteria were transferred to a medium containing normal N-14 to reproduce. The DNA from the second generation DNA was lighter than all N-15 DNA but heavier than all N-14 DNA, indicating that some of the DNA from the previous generation was conserved and some was new.
