External examination
Stage of development: check the lengt of legs, wings, the head, skin compartment
State of nourishment: Check the deep pectoral and thigh muscles
Pm changes: Check the general state of the skin, hypostasis, the eyes, cornea, and the central part we can see green discoloration due to autolysis.
Skin and feathers: check for contamination, ectoparasites, tear ability of feathers and check the skinpart on the head.
Feet: Make an incision into the paw, to see if the podo-dermatitis is deep or superficial.
Orifices: oropharyngeal, both eyes, ear canals, cloaca

- Pallor mortis = Pale colour (the blood settles in lower parts of the animal
- Exsiccatio postmortalis = Desiccation
- Maceratio postmortalis = Soaking. Skins/organs soaked with fluid
- Rigor mortis = Stiffness
- Curor postmortalis = Post mortem clot
- Hypostasis postmortalis = Blood sedimentation
- Imbibition = Discoloration
- Autolysis = Self softening
- Putrefaction = Postmortem destruction
- Adipocere = post mortem wax
