Oppositional Defiant Disorder Diagnostic Criteria
- 6 months of behaviors: angry/ irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior/ vindictiveness
- Behaviors do NOT result in violation of rights of others-annoyance
Conduct Disorder Diagnostic Criteria
- Repeated, serious violation of rights/societal norms
- More than 3 symptoms
* Aggressive conduct
* Deliberate property destruction
* Deceit or theft
* Serious violation of rules
Those are just categories: many symptoms per category
Subtypes of Conduct Disorder
- Childhood-Onset Type: before age 10-characterized by aggressive conduct (bullies, uses weapons, rape…)
- Adolescent-Onset Type: 10 or older-characteried by serious violation of rules (breaking curfew, running away…)
What is the treatment for Oppositional Defiant Disorder/Compulsive Disorder?
- Psychotherapy: train parents behavior management techniques
- In severe cases: residential program
Antisocial Personality Disorder Diagnostic Criteria?
- Must be > 18 yrs old
- Symptoms must have started before age 15
Intermittent Explosive Disorder Diagnostic Criteria
- Recurrent outbursts
- Aggression is grossly disproportionate to stressors
Treatment of Kleptomania/Pyromania
- Behavior Therapy: aversion therapy, exposure & response prevention
- Support Groups: buddy system
- Medication: SSRIs
Oppositional Defiant Disorder vs Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
ODD has episodes
DMDD is persistent and has mood involvment
DMDD supercedes ODD
Conduct Disorder vs Antisocial Personality Disorder
ASPD has no lack of remorse
* Age for ASPD has to have symptoms prior to 15 and diagnosed afte 18 years of age
