Reactive Attachment Disorder
Marked by a pattern of emotionally withdrawn behaviours towards caregivers
Acute Stress Disorder
Same criteria as PTSD except duration differs:
Duration is for a minimum of 3 days up to 1 month following the trauma
Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder
A pattern of behaviour in which a child actively approaches and interacts with unfamiliar adults
Wiliness to leave with unfamiliar adults without hesitation
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Persistent resistance towards taking direction from others
- Stubbornness or non-compliant behavior
- An unwillingness to compromise
- Frequent arguing with, talking back to, or challenging of authority
- Irritability, resentfulness, or negativity
- Temper tantrums or outbursts
- Blaming others or denying responsibility
- Repeated testing of other people’s limits (ignoring orders, arguing with directions)
- Repeated trouble at school
- Few or no friends
Conduct Disorder
- Bullying, threatening, or intimidating behavior towards other children
- Frequent starting of physical fights
- Use of weapons or tools capable of causing serious physical harm to people or property
- Physical cruelty toward animals or people
- Theft (ex stealing purses)
- Physical violence towards others (in the form of rape, assault, homicide, etc.)
- Destruction of property (e.g., fire setting, breaking of windows)
- Dishonesty
- Violation of rules (ex curfew)
- Running away from home
- Use of alcohol or drugs
- Truancy (skipping school) before the age of 13
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A) Unrealistic or excessive worry occurring for more days than not for at least 6 months, about a number of life events
B) Person finds it difficult to control worry
Agoraphobia
you fear and avoid places or situations that might cause you to panic and make you feel trapped, helpless or embarrassed
Avoid situations because afraid will not be able to escape or get help if panic or intense fear arises
Panic Disorder
Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks (criteria for a panic attack specifier
At least 1 attack followed by at 1 month or more of 1 (or both) of the following:
Persistent worry
Maladaptive behaviours
PANDAS
Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections.
Type of streep infection that causes OCD symptoms. Sudden onset of obsessions and compulsions caused by an infection (only in children)
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder
- A pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and mental and interpersonal control, at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 4 + of the following:
- Is preoccupied with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedules to the extent that the major point of the activity is lost.
- Shows perfectionism that interferes with task completion.
- Is excessively devoted to work and productivity to the exclusion of leisure activities and friendships (not accounted for by obvious economic necessity).
- Is over conscientious, scrupulous, and inflexible about matters of morality, ethics, or values
- Is unable to discard worn-out or worthless objects even when they have no sentimental value.
- Is reluctant to delegate tasks or to work with others unless they submit to exactly his or her way of doing things.
- Adopts a miserly spending style toward both self and others; money is viewed as something to be hoarded for future catastrophes.
- Shows rigidity and stubbornness.
Separation Anxiety Disorder
Childhood Disorder
Developmentally inappropriate and excessive fear or anxiety concerning separation from those whom the individual is attached
Panic Attack Specifier
Panic attack is a distinct period of intense fear or discomfort in absence of real danger which starts abruptly and peaks in a few minutes and has 4+:
* Palpitations
* Sweating
* Trembling
* SOB or smothering sensation
* Feeling of choking
* Chest pain
* Nausea, abdominal discomfort
* Dizziness, faintness
* Chills or hot flushes
* Paresthesia’s (numbness or tingling)
* Derealization or depersonalization
* Fear of losing control or going crazy
* Fear of dying
Dependent Personality Disorder
A pervasive and excessive need to be taken care of that leads to submissive and clinging behavior and fears of separation, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5+:
* Has difficulty making everyday decisions without an excessive amount of advice and reassurance from others.
* Needs others to assume responsibility for most major areas of their life.
* Has difficulty expressing disagreement with others because of fear of loss of support or approval.
* Has difficulty initiating projects or doing things on their own.
* Goes to excessive lengths to obtain nurturance and support from others, to the point of volunteering to do things that are unpleasant.
* Feels uncomfortable or helpless when alone because of exaggerated fears of being unable to care for themselves.
* Urgently seeks another relationship as a source of care and support when a close relationship ends.
* Is unrealistically preoccupied with fears of being left to take care of themselves
Histrionic Personality Disorder
A pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5+:
* Is uncomfortable in situations in which they are not the center of attention.
* Interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior.
* Displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions.
* Consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self.
* Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail.
* Shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion.
* Is suggestible (i.e., easily influenced by others or circumstances).
* Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are.
Avoidant Personality Disorder
A pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, and hypersensitivity to evaluation, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 4+:
* Avoids occupational activities that involve significant interpersonal contact because of fears of criticism, disapproval, or rejection.
* Is unwilling to get involved with people unless certain of being liked.
* Shows restraint within intimate relationships because of the fear of being shamed or ridiculed.
* Is preoccupied with being criticized or rejected in social situations.
* Is inhibited in new interpersonal situations because of feelings of inadequacy.
* Views self as socially inept, personally unappealing, or inferior to others.
* Is unusually reluctant to take personal risks or to engage in any new activities because they may prove embarrassing.
