Define performance improvement plan:
A program not to exceed 90 days, initiated by chief officer to include the deputy chief of training, battalion chief and the member supervisor, implemented when the member incurred two or more documented failures of any performance standard.

If a complaint is not formalized, the case may be referred to as a P. A. P. And may be assigned to the deputy chief of training, who may distribute to the battalion chief, station officer. The appropriate supervisor should discuss the matter with the member and explore ways to avoid similar or more serious problems in the future. The P. A. P. Should be considered as education or training, not discipline
