A muscular sac-like organ that plays a major role in digestion

Sometimes referred to as the colon
A muscular tube-like organ that’s about 5 feet long and located in the lower abdomen

A straight, 8-inch chamber that connects the colon to the anus

Produces saliva (spit) and empty it into your mouth through ducts, or small openings
Salivary glands
2nd Largest organ in the body
Filter nutrients from the blood before blood returns to the heart
Liver
Small sac-like organ connected to the liver
Stores bile produced by the liver
Removes some of the water from the bile to make it more concentrated
Gallbladder
A gland that secretes pancreatic fluid that goes into the small intestine through a duct
An endocrine gland because it secretes a hormone called insulin
Pancreas
Infection of the liver which is cause by a virus
Sexually transmitted and through blood products or feces
Hepatitis
Scarring of the liver which prevents the liver from functioning properly
Alcohol consumption
Cirrhosis
Sharp painful crystals that may be formed when the amount of salts in the bike is insufficient
Gallstones
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach.
GERD
Are sores that develop in the lining of the stomach or duodenum, the first part of the intestine
Peptic Ulcers
A chronic condition that causes symptoms like cramping, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
A loose, watery stools that occur more often than usual
Diarrhea
A condition in which the body cannot digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and other dairy products.
