digestion Flashcards
how are amino acids/glucose absorbed into blood
by contrasnport
Na+ actively transported from ileum into blood
maintains diffusion gradient for na+ to diffuse into cell with glucose/amino acids
glucose/amino acid enter blood by facilitated diffusion
how are lipids aborbed?
In presence of bile salts monoglycerises and fatty acids forms—micelle
Reaches epithelial cell membrane-micelle releases fatty acids + monoglycerides
they are lipid soluble and can diffuse across into epithelial cell
how are lipids processed?
In epithelial cell Triglycerides reformed in ER (from MG and FA)
In golgi proteins are added to TG to form lipoproteins
Lipoproteins are packaged into vesicles for exocytosis into blood
what is the role of endopeptideases
hydrolyse internal peptide bonds, breaking peptides into shorter chains
what is the role of exopeptideases
Remove terminal amino acids, by hydrolysing the bonds at the ends
