1) Record BG level per and post administration
2) Use large bore catheter to establish IV
3) Aspirate occasionally during administration
4) Infiltration may cause local tissue necrosis
5) May precipitate psychosis in alcoholics with thiamin deficiency
6) Use cautiously if suspected CVA or intracranial hemorrhage
