Design Economics & Cost Planning Flashcards
What did you need to allow for inflation on the estimate for Dyson
At the time , there was a target start on site date and completion date. This was then used to find mid point of construction and gain the % allowed for inflation in the TPI
You say you produced the estimate using in house data - how did you know this was relevant to the project
Dyson were a key client at that time, and so there was a number of different projects that we carried out for dyson previously. As a result I was able to use the data most applicable to this current project.
How did you come up with the %s for the preliminaries / design fees / etc
Again as we had a lot of in house data on past dyson projects, I was able to reference previous projects of a similar nature and size and use these as the basis of my %s for these elements
what assumptions and exclusions did you allow for
Exclusions
VAT
works by statutory authorities
Night or weekend working.
Assumptions
-That it will be competitively tendered.
-That there is no phased working
- Works carried out in normal working hours
