What is the mechanism of disease for Dengue fever?
Mosquito or tick bite transmission
The virus undergoes receptor mediated endocytosis and then replicates in cells.
How long does the first infection last?
1-5 days with a rash for 3-4 days of that
What treatment is needed for a first time infection with Dengue?
Supportive only. Will self resolve
What happens in a reinfection with a different serotype of dengue?
Antibody dependent enhancement leading to
- Dengue Hemorrhagic fever
- Dengue Shock Syndrome
