There are CLEAR AND IDENTIFABLE CHANGES in behaviour as people progress through the DIFFERENT STAGES OF LIFE, from CONCEPTION THROUGH TO DEATH.
Influenced by the BIOLOGICAL STAGES in development or by CHANGES IN OUR EXPERIENCES OF THE ENVIROMENT.
What is the definition of the biological approach?
ALL behaviour is INNATE and has a PHYSIOLOGICAL ORIGIN AND A BIOLOGICAL BASIS.
due to GENETICS and that we INHERIT.
GENETIC INFORMATION IS INHERITED, yet the environment that the individual is in can ALTER HOW GENETIC ARE SHOWN and can IMPACT ON BEHVIOUR.
What is the definition of the cognitive approach?
Assumes behaviour is a result of INFORMATION PROCESSING.
Mind works like a COMPUTER, IT INPUTS information and then we actively process the information around us through EXPERIENECS AND INTERACTIONS.
What is the definition of the individual approach?
ALL INDIVIDUALS DIFFER in their behaviour and personal qualities, so not everyone can be considered the ‘average person’
Every individual is GENETICALLY UNIQUE and this uniqueness is displayed through behaviour.
EVERYONE BEHAVES DIFFERENTLY.
What is the definition of the psychodynamic perspective?
Behaviour is rooted in our early childhood experiences.
Our early experiences of relationships with other people are of particular importance. Our behaviour ,personality, motivation and feelings are influenced by unresolved conflicts in the unconscious mind.
Not consciously aware of it.
What is the definition of the Behaviorist perspective?
All humans are born as a blank slate and that all behaviour is shaped and influenced by the environment and our experiences.
