Incorporation
Loss of motivation to engage in activity avoided as it might stir up conflict over forbidden impulses. (Writing, learning, work blocks, or social shyness)

Not unconscious. Giving believe able explanation for irrational behavior: motivated by unacceptable unconscious wishes or by defenses to cope with such wishes.
Rationalization
Person adopts affects ideas attitudes behaviors that are opposite if those he harbors consciously or unconsciously. Being excessively sweet to mask anger.

Regression
Potentially malady price feelings or behaviors are diverted into social acceptable adaptive channels. Turn negative into a positive
Subliminal ion
Unattainable or unacceptable goal emotion or object is replaced by one more attainable or acceptable
Substitution
Mental representation stands for some other thing or attribute. It underlies dream formation and other symptoms with a link between the latent meaning and the symbol.
Symbolization
A person uses words or actions to symbolically reverse unacceptable thoughts feels or actions. I e a person compulsively washing hands to deal with obsessive thought.
Undoing
Defense to deflect hostile aggression or other unacceptable impulses from another self.
Turing against self
Associated survey. Orderliness personality organization in which a person perceives self and others as all good or all bad. A person cannot integrate the good and bad in people.
Splitting
Utilized by persons with border line personality organization. Unconsciously perceiving other behavior as a reflection of ones own identity.
Projective identification
Borderline uses it; person attributes exaggerated negative qualities to self or others.

Emotional conflict is dealt with through actions rather thank feelings
