Deep back + occipital Flashcards
?
blue left: iliocostalis
blue middle: longissimus
blue right: spinalis
What features of intrinsic muscles contrast with those of extrinsic?
Intrinsic muscles support posture, responsible for movements of vertebral column. they’re also involved in proprioception and they are innervated by the dorsal rami of spinal nerves
extrinsic are responsible for movement of the upper limbs, and they’re innervated by the accessory nerve or branches of the brachial plexus
Hypaxial muscles include
Trapezius
Latissimus dorsi
Rhomboids
Levatore Scapulae
What muscles constitute the “2nd layer” of the back and those of the “3rd layer” ?
2nd layer include levator and rhomboids, 3rd layer are the extrinsic muscles Serratus posterior superior and Serratus posterior inferior
Serratus Posterior Superior: innervation and blood supply
T2+T5 intercostal nerves (VENTRAL rami, motor)
Posterior Intercostal arteries
Serratus Posterior Superior: actions
