Deamination (oxidative) Flashcards

1
Q

What happens in this reaction?

A

An amine (NH2) group is lost from the original compound and the product formed is C=O. This is where the ‘oxidative’ term comes in: The intermediate formed in this reaction contains an OH group, which is then oxidised to form the product C=O
