What is the definition of deception ?
Participants should not have any information withheld from them
What is the definition of consent ?
Participants should give permission to participate in the study.
What is the definition of confidentiality ?
Participants information and data shouldn’t be shared/made public.
What is the definition of observation ?
Participants should only be observed covertly in a public place.
What is the definition of withdrawal ?
Participants should be able to drop out at any time.
What is the definition of protection ?
Participants should be protected from psychological and physical harm.
What is the definition of advice ?
Participants should be offered advice if needed during or after the study.
What is the definition of debriefing ?
Participants should always be offered a debrief after the study has taken place to let them know the full research aim. They may be offered advice during this and given a contact number.
