Guideline
A line to follow when we are cutting
Section
The way we divide the hair to cut
Natural projection
The hair is projected at a 90o angle
Natural fall
The hair falls naturally due to the force of gravity at 0 projection
Perimeter
The outside line of the haircut
Tension
How firmly we hold the hair to cut
Crestline
The widest point of the head, a line that divides the interior from the exterior
Interior
The part of the head where the hair lies flat against the head, above the Crestline
Exterior
The part of the head where the hair falls free from the head, below the Crestline
Blunt Cut
Cutting straight accross
Activated texture
Rough surface, all ends exposed.

What are the benefits of holding cutting equipment correctly?
Reduces chance of repetative strain injury (RSI) for joints and muscles.
Important things to remember!!!
Take fine sections so you can find and see your guideline through the section.
Take straight sections to achieve an even haircut.
Apply even tension to achieve an even haircut.
Ergonomic hand positions
Scissors - need to be sharp (client will feel blunt scissors pulling)
Keep wrists as straight as possible
Avoid excessive bending up and down with wrists
Swizzle thumb grips in the scissors to avoid awkward holding positions
Avoid tension in your arms (try to keep them relaxed)
Ergonomically correct things.
