To learn colouring in between the lines
What is colour?
Different frequencies of light.
Why does an object appear Green?
All other colours of light are absorbed except the green colour, so we see green
How do you get black?
All colours are absorbed and so no colour is reflected.
How do you get white?
All colours are reflected.
What are the primary colours? (not of light)
Red, Yellow, Blue
What are the secondary colours? (not of light)
Orange, Violet (purple) , Green
What are the tertiary colours? (not of light)
Auburn, Copper, Mahogany, Plum, Ash
What are the colour catagories?
Temporary - lasts one wash
Midway (colour touch) - lasts 15-40 washes
Permanant (Koleston perfect) - lasts until the hair grows out and then you get roots and the client gets embarrassed and comes back and pays you more money to do it again.
Decolouring product - Takes away colour, by bleach powder or creme lightener
Name the three forms of Non-Oxidative Temporary Colour
Water base - no holding properties. E.g. Purple shp
Spirit base - has hold and can be used as product before blow dry
Aerosole - like hairspray
Name 5 different types of hair colour examples
Shampoos, hairsprays, conditioners, setting lotions, chalk, gel, mousse.
Advantages of Temp Colour
Left with no regrowth Gives hair a shine Can be used between permenant colours Can be used as an introduction to colours Can refresh faded ends May neutralise unwanted colour tones

Temporary hair colour coates the cuticle
Gives the hair shine
May grab on the porous hair

Stains the cortex
Penetrates through the cuticle

How does Midway affect the hair shaft?
Penetrates through the cuticle
Sits half inside the cortex, and half out the cuticle
How does Permanant affect the hair?
Colour molecules (pretty sure they’re called pigments) penetrate through the cuticle and enter the cortex fully
