cruise Flashcards
When is Top of Climb (TOC) considered an area of vulnerability?
TOC is considered an area of vulnerability because all non-critical duties must be deferred until after cruise speed is stable.
What indicates that cruise speed is stable at TOC?
Cruise speed is stable when indicated by a fixed and static speed within the speed bug.
When should the cruise checklist be accomplished?
Only after the appropriate cruise speed has been established and is stable.
What is the initial thrust setting based on?
A: The fuel flow shown on the release or enroute plan page is a resource for cruise thrust sett
The fuel flow shown on the release or enroute plan page is a resource for cruise thrust setting.
What is the normal climb speed below 10,000 ft?

What is the minimum climb speed below 10,000 ft?
.
Vmd

0.74 Mach

0.78 Mach
What is the limitation of the dashed lines on the Speed Cards for
Vmd
They do not provide a speed with adequate bank protection for turns in excess of 15°. Bank angles in excess of 15° and holding at these altitudes and weights are prohibited.
What should be done when TAS differs by more than 10 kt or 5% of flight-planned TAS?
Advise ATC of the new TAS.
Use the following procedure when supplemental oxygen is required:
OXYGEN MASK DON
NORMAL / 100%
LEVER 100%
MASK / BOOM switch MASK
AUDIO PANEL R / T / I / C switch OFF
CONTROL YOKE R / T I / C selector OFF
AUDIO PANEL SPKR (press) ON
How can you avoid TCAS Resolution Advisories during climb and level off when aware of traffic in close vicinity?
Monitor climb and consider reducing vertical speed to 1,500 ft/min or less at least 1,000 ft before reaching the cleared flight level.
The following criteria require ATC notification when the flight is unable to continue RVSM operation:
- Altitude deviations of 200 ft or greater. Declare an emergency when unable to comply with the assigned altitude.
- Failure of transponder(s)
- Failure of either primary altimeter system
- Failure of altitude alerting and/or capture capability
- Failure of the AFCS
The primary altimeter systems must indicate within 200 ft of each other in flight. A discrepancy in excess of 200 ft may indicate a system failure. ???
