How many collector tanks are there on the CRJ and where are they located?
Two collector tanks located in the center tank.
How are collector tanks fed?
Gravity fed from its associated wing tank
How do tanks vent in flight?
Vented through interconnecting vent lines to NACA scoops (located on the lower surface of each wing’s trailing edge)
How do tanks vent on the ground?
On ground air pressure and thermal expansion, generated by the refueling process, is relieved through the NACA Scoops
if any fuel that enters the vent lines is scavenged back into the center tank
Which valves prevent outward flow during wing low maneuvers
One-way flow valves. They are attached to integral wing ribs
Where are water drain valves located and how do they work?
Located on the low point of each fuel tank. They allow maintenance personnel to check for contaminants in the fuel.
