How is a critical fatigue area defined?

A

Defined as the working length of a cable where the cable runs over, under, or around a pulley, sleeve, or through a ‘fair-lead’ , or any point within 1 foot of a swaged fitting

A

Pass a cloth over the area to snag on broken wires. You must also conduct a visual inspection

What do you do to a cable that has surface corrosion?

A

Relieve tension, inspect inside strands.

If inside strands are corroded, replace cable

If no internal corrosion, remove loose external corrosion using a fibre brush
