Individual:
holds negative view of self
evaluates ongoing events in a negative way
misinterprets available data, and assumes future holds no hope
Phases of Crisis
- Confrontation by the hazard, threatens the self-concept, produces temporary disequilibrium
- Usual problem-solving techniques fail, further increase of temporary disequilibrium
- Emergency problem-solving resources called upon and fail, further increasing temporary disequilibrium; panic may occur
- A major disruptive state or disorganization occurs
