What is a contrasting colour?
They are on opposites sides of the colour wheel. They create impact and are eye catching.
What is a harmonising colour?
They are next to each other on the colour wheel. They are soft and easy on the eye.
What are the primary colours?
Red, blue, yellow
What are the secondary colours?
Violet, Green and orange
What are tertiary colours?
The are a combination of primary and secondary colours.
What are warm colours?
They give a feeling of warmth such as red, yellow and orange.
What are cool colours?
They give a feeling of coolness such as blue, green and violet.
What are advancing colours?
They look as though they are coming towards you when you look at them and they are warm colours.
What are receding colours?
They appear to be moving away when you look at them and are cool colours.
What is an accent colour?
Is is a colour which is used throughout a presentation to help bring it together. Using the same 1 or 2 colours can really bring the publication together.
Neutral colours
Brown, black, white, and grey. They are very natural and formal.
