Q

what are STRENGTHS of a correlation?

A
  • allows research which would be unethical/impossible to do otherwise
  • able to find relationships we never knew existed
  • make use of existing data-quick and easy way to carry out research
  • high mundane realism/eco validity-little manipulation of behaviour
  • procedure can be repeated

Q

what are WEAKNESSES of a correlation?

A
  • cannot assume cause and effect-strong correlation between variables may be misleading
  • may lack validity-extraneous variables
  • lck of correlation may mean no relationship-could be non linear
