Q

strengths of correlations

A

Help to identify patterns in variables
It’s a good starting point that allows other research to be conducted by tweaking variables
Allows us to explore complex relationships

Q

weaknesses of correlations

A

tells us there is a relationship but it doesn’t tell us HOW the variables are related
So doesn’t give us the reasons why
Also intervening variables may be overlooked, so we might be able to say that one variable effects the other but we may overlook variables that may influence it.
