Coronary Ciruclation Flashcards
What is the rich blood supply to the heart supplied by?
The coronary arteries
What are the coronary arteries superior to?
The cusps of the aortic valve from the aortic sinuses
What are the three sinuses of the aortic valve?
Posterior aortic sinus, left aortic sinus and right aortic sinus
Do any arteries arise from the posterior aortic sinus?
No arteries!!
What artery arises from the right aortic sinus?
The right coronary artery
What artery arises from the left aortic sinus?
Left coronary artery
What does the left coronary artery supply?
Left atrium, most of the left ventricle, some of the right ventricle, anterior part of the interventricular septum and the SA node
What does the left coronary artery divide into?
Anterior interventricular branch and smaller circumflex branch
Where does the anterior interventricular branch travel down to?
The anterior surface of the heart along the interventricular groove towards the apex of the heart
What does the anterior interventricular branch supply?
The anterior walls of both ventricles
What does the circumflex branch pass along?
The coronary (atrioventricular) groove on the left boarder of the heart to the posterior surface
What does the circumflex branch also give off?
A left marginal artery which runs on the left boarder of the heart and supplies the left ventricle
What could happen in 40% of people?
The circumflex branch supplies the SA node
What does the right coronary artery supply blood to?
Right atrium, most of the right ventricle, some of the left ventricle, posterior IV septum and the SA node
What does the right coronary artery give off?
An ascending sinoatrial node branch
