Controlling experimental design Flashcards
1
Q
What is a problem with independent groups design?
A
Individual differences.
2
Q
How is the individual differences controlled?
A
Random allocation.
3
Q
Why is random allocation used?
A
So ppt are able to be in at least one condition and its unlikely that they will have the same characteristics.
4
Q
How is random allocation done?
A
-write names of ppt on equal sized paper
-place them into a hat
-pick out some for condition one and some for condition two.
5
Q
What is an issue with repeated measures?
A
Order effects
6
Q
How do we control order effects?
A
-Half ppt complete condition A then condition B
-other half complete condition B then condition A
-order effects are then balanced across conditions.
