What controls the blood glucose level?
Insulin and glucagon.
What happens if the blood glucose level is too high?
Insulin is secreted by the pancreas, when the blood reaches the liver the insulin makes it turn the excess glucose into stored glycogen, lowering the blood glucose level.
What happens if the blood glucose level is too low?
Glucagon is secreted by the pancreas, when the blood reaches the liver the glucagon makes liver turn glycogen into glucose, raising the blood glucose level.
What is Type 1 diabetes caused by?
A lack of insulin.
How can the problem be controlled?
1) limiting the intake of foods rich with carbohydrates
2) regular exersize
3) insulin therapy - injecting insulin into the blood
