Active Transport Flashcards
1
Q
What type of cells are specialised for absorbing water and minerals and how do they do this?
A
Root hair cells, and they have a large surface area due to long hairs that stick into the soil.
2
Q
How does active transport occur?
A
As it is against the concentration gradient (low to high concentration), then it requires energy from respiration to work.
3
Q
Why do humans need active transport?
A
Nutrients need to go from the gut into our blood stream if the levels in the blood are higher than that in the gut.
