What is essential for a sinner to be saved? Where do we see this in Augustine’s conversion?
A
The essential thing is repentance. Even if you say that you are a Christian and you do great things and you follow what the Bible says, you honestly aren’t unless you repent your sins. If you don’t own up to your sins, you can’t admit that you are a sinner and that you need Christ. That is pretty much the whole point of the Bible Story! You have to repent your sins and accept that you need Jesus Christ in your life. Augustine is constantly repenting throughout the book of Confessions. That’s literally the title of the book: CONFESSIONS!
