Conduction of Electricity Flashcards
What is electric current?
The flow of charge around a complete circuit.
What stores does the electric current transfer through?
The electric current transfers energy from the chemical store of the battery to the thermal store of the light bulb.
What material are most conductors?
Most conductors are metal and all metals are conductors.
What are some examples of non-metal conductors?
Salt, Graphite and Carbon.
What does the inside of a wire look like?
oooooooooooooooooo
———————————–
but with more o everywhere because its a solid
Can electrons move?
Free electrons can move through the circuit. This is a flow of charge.
Pick a word: The more/less free electrons, the better/worse the conductor
The more free electrons, the better the conductor.
or
The less free electrons, the worse the conductor.
What does an ammeter do?
Measures the electric current in the circuit. Current is the charge flowing past a point every second
