Stages of empathy

A
  1. Cognitive stage: getting into the position of the other person
  2. Crossing over stage: PT/PTA can feel himself/herself as the patient, living in the patient’s world
  3. Coming back to own feelings stage: PT/PTA comes back to his/her own person and feels a special alliance
