Ability to imagine yourself in another persons place and to understand the other person feelings, ideas, desires, and actions

A
Harmony of or agreement in feeling, as between persons or on the part of one person with respect to another

Stages of empathy
A
- Cognitive stage: getting into the position of the other person
- Crossing over stage: PT/PTA can feel himself/herself as the patient, living in the patient’s world
- Coming back to own feelings stage: PT/PTA comes back to his/her own person and feels a special alliance
