Politics in the southern colonies

No religion
Education important to wealthy, but due to distance between plantations, parents hired tutors to teach boys academic subjects.
Most often went to England to finish schooling. Governess taught girls reading, writing, math, how to run a household, I had to find a husband
Virginia Dash 100% of upperclassman were literate, 90% of laborers, 25% of upper-class women, and 1% of slaves could sign their names.
Tobacco was also use this money at one time and introduced at Jamestown settlement

Social characteristics of the southern colonies

A

Virginia it was general assembly/house of Burgesses
Maryland = created a government where he made laws with the constant of the Freeman landowners in the colony. A legislative assembly was created to consent to the laws passed by the governor. There were two houses: one of the Freeman and the second consisted of the governor and his counsel.
North Carolina = Lord’s proprietor then royal colony.
South Carolina equals royal colony Road by fundamental constitutional Caroline.
Georgia = royal colony
