When was the creation of NATO

Why was NATO formed?
Stalins threat to Berlin and other countries and communist takeovers were happening quite frequent so they needed to do something

If any member was attacked, all members of NATO would come to its assistance.

NATO invited west germany to join

He feared that west germany (joining NATO) would become too powerful and would take over East germany

The soviet union placed a blockade around west berlin. The people were trapped
