Ciculatory System Flashcards
Circulatory Function
responsible for carrying blood, nutrients, oxygen and hormones to and from the cells.
3 independent systems of circulatory system
- Cardiovascular
- Pulminary
- Systematic
Parts of cardiovascular system (2)
- Heart
- blood vessels
Parts of pulmonary system (1)
Lungs
Parts of systematic system (3)
- arteries
- veins
- other vessels (capillaries, etc..)
Arteries function
- carry nutrients and oxygenated blood to the cells of the body
Veins function
- return de-oxygenated blood back to the heart and lungs.
Kidneys function (as pertaining to circulation)
- filter out waste products as blood runs through
Cardiovascular system function
transport of water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, fuels for energy production, electrolytes, hormones, and metabolic products
Blood flow through the heart process (8)
BODY → RIGHT ATRIUM → RIGHT VENTRICLE → LUNGS via pulmonary Artery → Capillaries that surround the ALVEOLI → LEFT ATRIUM → LEFT VENTRICLE → BODY
Right side of heart function
receives from veins and pumps to the lungs
Adult resting heart rate
28-44 bpm
Average heart rate for
Walk
Trot
Canter
Gallop
W - 80
T - 130
C - 180
G - 240
Benefits of massage on cardiovascular system (4)
- help to relax and dilate blood vessels.
- help to improve blood circulation.
- help to reduce ischemia (decreased blood flow to part of the body - primarily to the intestines).
- induce the parasympathetic system which will decrease blood pressure, reduce heart rate and strengthen the heart beat.
